What to Wear (and What Not to Wear) When Visiting Southeastern Correctional Complex

A shirt is required. Show up without one and you won't get into the visiting area - no exceptions, even if you've traveled hours or already started check-in. Stick with something simple that clearly reads as street clothing.

Shoes are required too. Heelys (the ones with wheels) and any footwear with removable parts aren't allowed. When in doubt, go with basic, fully intact shoes - anything that looks like it can be taken apart might get you stopped at the entrance.

If you’re wearing a dress, skirt, or Bermuda-length shorts, pay close attention to the length. Dresses, skirts, or Bermuda-length shorts that are more than three inches (3”) above the knee are not permitted. When you’re unsure, choose the longer option - this is one of those rules that can end a visit before it starts.

If you're 16 or older, bring a valid photo ID. The facility requires it for entry to the visiting area. Have it out and ready to keep check-in moving.

  • No shirt (you’ll be denied entry)
  • Heelys (wheeled shoes)
  • Footwear with removable parts
  • Dresses, skirts, or Bermuda-length shorts more than three inches (3”) above the knee

Tip: Have your photo ID ready (if 16+) and dress to the rules - shirt on, compliant shoes, hemline no more than 3" above the knee. Don't lose your visit to a preventable clothing issue.
