In-person visits at Southwestern Corrections Center are scheduled through IDOC's SignUpGenius, so reserve a time slot before you go. When you arrive, call the unit to announce yourself, then show two IDs (including one state-issued photo ID) and provide your vehicle information. First-time adult visitors must complete the Prospective Visitor's Interview (PVI) DOC 0148 unless they already have electronic approval. You also need to be on the incarcerated person's approved visitors list (government officials and legal visitors are the exception). The Visiting Room is strict about what comes inside. Electronics, food and drink, purses and bags, keys, currency, and smoking materials are all prohibited. Small lockers are available. Staff may conduct body searches, and anyone who appears intoxicated will be turned away. Dress to the knee-length standard.

Southwestern Corrections Center runs both video visitation and phone service through ICSolutions. To get started with video visits, create an ICSolutions account. If you have a GTL Visitor ID, enter it during registration to speed up approval. Video visits are limited to one per incarcerated person per day and can include up to three approved visitors for general population or protective custody. All visits are monitored live and recorded. Rule violations can end the visit immediately and lead to suspended visitation privileges. No video visits are scheduled between 2:30pm and 4:30pm due to institutional count procedures. Phone calls also run through ICSolutions, with IDOC listing a domestic rate of $0.008 per minute. People in custody can only make outgoing calls to numbers on their approved calling list.

Southwestern Corrections Center supports two ways to fund phone calls: a Friends and Family prepaid ICSolutions account, or minutes purchased through the incarcerated person's commissary. If you use an online vendor or service, follow the registration steps and enter the incarcerated person's identifying details (full name plus their booking/ID number or date of birth) so funds post to the right account. Electronic deposits and vendor transfers usually post faster than mailed payments, though exact timing depends on the vendor and method you choose. Before sending money, confirm whether it goes into the commissary/trust account and whether any outstanding balances will be deducted before the recipient can use the funds. During prepaid registration, provide any requested fields (such as a GTL Visitor ID) to help speed approval.
