Understanding Parole Hearings in Louisiana: When They Happen and How to Attend
Planning for a Louisiana parole hearing? Two things matter most: when hearings typically get scheduled and how you can attend—in person or remotely.
Louisiana parole hearings are typically scheduled within nine months of the incarcerated person's parole eligibility date. Knowing this timeline helps you plan for travel, time off work, and any preparation you want to complete before the hearing.
Parole hearings are held at the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections (DPS&C) Headquarters, Building 6, First Floor, 504 Mayflower St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802. This is where all public hearings take place.
Can't make it in person? Parole hearings are open to the public via Zoom video conferencing and streamed live on YouTube. You can observe and submit comments without traveling to Baton Rouge.
- Arrive 30 minutes early - plan to be there about half an hour before the hearing start time.
- Check in with the security office - once you arrive, report to the security office for processing before you can attend.
Heads up: All visitors who attend at the hearing site are subject to search by security.
