How to Schedule a HomeWAV Video Visit at St. Johns County Jail
St. Johns County Jail handles all visits through HomeWAV—no in-person meetings. Once you know the schedule and booking steps, setting up your first video visit is pretty quick.
St. Johns County Jail doesn't offer in-person visitation. Every visit happens through the HomeWAV video system, so you'll be meeting by video rather than going to the jail for a face-to-face visit.
The jail lists a Video Visitation Center at 4015 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine, FL 32084, but the visit itself is still remote through HomeWAV. Because everything is video-based, there's no "arrive early, check in, go through security" routine - and you don't need to bring anything to the jail for a HomeWAV visit.
Before creating an account, get familiar with the time slots. Monday and Friday visits run at 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 3:00 PM. Tuesday through Thursday, the slots shift to 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 7:00 PM, and 8:00 PM. When booking in HomeWAV, match your day to the right set of times.
Note: Monday/Friday slots are different from Tuesday–Thursday. Double-check the day before booking so you don't pick a time that isn't available.
- Create a HomeWAV user account - Start on HomeWAV (website or mobile app) and set up your login.
- Search for the facility - Look up “St. Johns County Jail” so you’re booking under the correct jail.
- Locate the inmate - Find the person you want to visit in the system (using their full name and/or ID, if available).
- Add the inmate to your contacts - This connects your account to the person you’re trying to schedule with.
- Confirm you can schedule - Once the inmate is added, you should be able to view available visit times and move forward with booking.
- ✓ Make sure you selected “St. Johns County Jail” (not a similarly named facility).
- ✓ Re-check spelling if the inmate doesn’t show up on the first search.
- ✓ If you have an inmate ID, use it to avoid pulling up the wrong person with a similar name.
Once you've added the inmate, pick an available time slot from HomeWAV's schedule. Remember: Monday/Friday times differ from Tuesday–Thursday. Select your slot, purchase the time block, and you'll get an email confirmation for your scheduled visit.
A smooth visit comes down to basic tech prep. Before your scheduled time, make sure your device can run HomeWAV (they offer a free mobile app). Test your camera, microphone, and internet connection. Find somewhere quiet and private so you can hear each other without interruptions. HomeWAV also offers messaging - text, images, GIFs, video, and voice - so if a video visit doesn't work out right away, you still have ways to stay in touch.
- ✓ Charge your phone/tablet or plug in your computer before the visit starts.
- ✓ Test your camera and microphone a few minutes ahead of time.
- ✓ Use a stable internet connection.
- ✓ Sit in a quiet, private space with minimal background noise.
- ✓ Don’t worry about bringing anything to the jail - HomeWAV visits don’t require physical items at the facility.
At your scheduled time, connect through HomeWAV (app or website) and join your session. Since visits are remote, you skip the facility check-in and security screening entirely. If you want other ways to communicate, HomeWAV also supports messaging with text, images, GIFs, video, and voice.
Warning: Even approved visitors - spouses, parents, adult children, close relatives, or friends - can have visits restricted or suspended due to security concerns, lockdowns, emergencies, or inmate disciplinary actions.
- Check your email confirmation - HomeWAV sends a confirmation after you purchase and schedule the time block.
- Verify the booking in your HomeWAV account - Confirm the visit shows as scheduled (date/time) under the correct facility.
- Confirm you added the right inmate - If the wrong person is in your contacts, you won’t see the right schedule options.
- Re-check the facility selection - Make sure your account is set to “St. Johns County Jail,” since this jail uses HomeWAV for all visits.
- Try booking again if needed - If the time slot didn’t go through, select an available slot and complete the purchase again.
If you need to reference the jail's visitation location when asking questions, it's listed as the Video Visitation Center at 4015 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine, FL 32084. Just remember - visits are still conducted remotely through HomeWAV.
