Scheduling Your Visit at St. Louis Justice Center: Inmate Requests, Advance Notice, and Limits

At the St. Louis Justice Center, the inmate requests the dates and times for social visits. You can't book a slot on your own like you would an appointment. Want to set up a visit? Coordinate with the person inside first so they can submit the request for a day and time that works for both of you.

Timing matters. The inmate must request the social visit two (2) days in advance through their Housing Unit Officer. Last-minute plans usually won't work. Build in a couple of days so the request can be submitted and scheduled before you make the trip.

Social visits are limited to one (1) per week. If multiple family members want to visit, talk it through with the inmate so that single weekly slot gets used the way everyone intends - especially if you're traveling from out of town or juggling work and childcare.

Social visits are available Monday through Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Each visit lasts one hour. That wide window gives flexibility when the inmate submits a request. When planning transportation and time off, budget for the full hour plus extra time for check-in before you're allowed in.

If Denied Next Steps

  • Ask the inmate to submit (or re-submit) the visit request for the date and time you’re aiming for
  • Have the inmate confirm the request was made through their Housing Unit Officer (since that’s the required path)
  • Call the Case Worker to confirm you’re approved to visit before you show up

Before you make the trip, confirm your visitor approval by phone. Call (314) 621-5848 and give the operator the inmate's name. They'll locate you in the system and transfer you to the correct Case Worker to confirm you're approved.
