Before You Drive to Stanley CI: Parking Rules and What You Can't Leave in Your Car
Your visit can get derailed before you even reach the front door if your car isn't parked correctly. Here's what Stanley Correctional Institution expects—and how to avoid an unnecessary visit termination.
Once you park at Stanley Correctional Institution (SCI), lock up immediately. All vehicles in the parking lot must stay locked with windows rolled up the entire time you're on facility property.
Warning: If your vehicle is found unsecured or unlocked, your visit may be terminated. A vehicle left on state property for more than 24 hours may also be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.
Plan ahead so no one has to wait in the parking lot. SCI doesn't allow people or pets to stay in a vehicle on institution property during your visit. Breaking this rule can cost you the visit entirely.
Note: Loitering in parking lots is prohibited. So is any communication with inmates from outside the approved visiting area - that includes waving, honking, or flashing headlights.
SCI is tobacco-free. Leave all tobacco products in your car (or better yet, at home). You can't use or possess them anywhere on the grounds.
Parking rules are enforced. Keep your vehicle secured - windows up, doors locked - the entire time it's parked. An unsecured car can get your visit terminated. Leave a vehicle on state property for more than 24 hours, and it may be ticketed or towed at your expense.
If your vehicle breaks down or stalls on the property, report it to the lobby sergeant right away. Don't hang around the lot while you sort things out - loitering is prohibited, and staff won't tolerate any attempts to communicate with inmates from outside the approved visiting area.
