Before You Drive to Stanley CI: Parking, Waiting-in-Car Rules, and the Tobacco-Free Policy

Stanley Correctional Institution has a few parking-lot and grounds rules that are strictly enforced, and breaking them can cost you your visit. Here's what to know before you step out of your car.

Think of securing your vehicle as the first step of check-in. All vehicles in the SCI parking lot must be locked with windows rolled up. Double-check before you walk toward the entrance. You don't want to be running back to the lot after you've already started the process.

Reminder: Before you walk away, check both doors and windows. Locked car, windows up.

Nobody can wait in a vehicle during your visit. That includes pets. If you brought someone who isn't going inside, or your dog came along for the ride, you'll need a different plan. Have them drop you off, or leave pets at home.

Warning: If someone (or a pet) stays in the vehicle while you visit, staff can deny or end your visit. Arrange a drop-off, bring a second driver, or leave pets at home.

Stanley Correctional Institution is completely tobacco-free. No tobacco products can be used anywhere on institution property, and you can't bring them inside the facility.

Tip: Leave tobacco products at home or in a spot off institution property. If you realize you have them on you at the gate, you'll have to turn around.
