What Not to Wear to Visits at Summit County Juvenile Detention

Summit County Juvenile Detention enforces their dress code. If your outfit doesn't meet the rules, staff can turn you away. Take a minute to choose something conservative before you leave home - it's not worth losing your visit over.

Length matters for bottoms. Shorts, dresses, and skirts must reach the knee or below. Even if the overall length works, skip skirts with revealing slits - those aren't allowed.

  • Spandex
  • Tight stretch pants
  • Tight leather pants
  • Tight sweat pants

Tops Undergarments

  • Tank tops
  • Halter tops
  • Midriff tops
  • Low-cut tops
  • Bare shoulders
  • Bare stomachs
  • See-through clothing

Reminder: Make sure your undergarments aren’t visible. If they show through, peek out, or are exposed when you move, you may be turned away.

What your clothing says matters too. Anything obscene - whether it's wording, imagery, or suggestive content - is prohibited. Gang-related signs or language? Not allowed. Same goes for apparel featuring drug or alcohol references.

Leave the outerwear behind. Coats, jackets, hats, and caps aren't allowed in the visiting area. The facility has lockers where you can store these items - no need to trek back to your car.
