What to Bring (and Leave Behind) When Visiting Taylor County Detention

Bring your photo ID. Staff at Taylor County Detention check identification at the entrance, so have it out and ready when you arrive.

Kids are welcome, but they must stay with an adult the entire time. Plan accordingly.

Keep your group small - Taylor County Detention allows up to two adults and two children per inmate in the visitation area.

Items to Leave Outside

  • Handbags (leave them outside the facility)
  • Cell phones (leave them outside the facility)

Dress modestly. If you're unsure what to wear, keep it simple - nothing revealing or attention-grabbing that might cause issues at check-in.

Note: Taylor County Detention reserves the right to deny visitation to anyone who doesn’t follow the visitation rules.

What to Bring (and Leave Behind) When Visiting Taylor County Detention

You'll need an appointment. Taylor County Detention doesn't allow walk-ins, so schedule ahead.

  1. Call to schedule - Make your visitation appointment by calling 270-789-1909.
  2. Call during scheduling hours - Appointment scheduling is available Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM–3:15 PM, and Friday, 9:00 AM–Noon.
  3. Try early in the week - Each Monday, the detention center begins making appointments for that week only.

Visits happen on Thursdays and Saturdays and last 30 minutes. Each inmate gets one visit per week - Thursday or Saturday, not both - so plan around that limit.

  • Have your photo ID ready for check-in
  • Leave personal items - like handbags and cell phones - outside the facility (they aren’t allowed in the visitation area)
