Telford Unit

Visits at the Telford Unit happen primarily on weekends, generally Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Regular on-unit visits last two hours, starting when both you and the inmate are present. Each inmate can have one on-unit visit per weekend. The unit also allows remote video visits through the approved vendor once per month for up to 60 minutes, in addition to on-unit visits. Use the Online Visitation Scheduler to request visits. Relationship requests are verified by unit staff, and account setup requires a 7-digit email validation code (your account email cannot be changed once created). Bring an acceptable photo ID. Don't bring cell phones inside the secure perimeter, and avoid cash except coins up to $35. Contact visits allow limited physical contact, and non-attorney visits may be electronically monitored. Call the unit to confirm assignment, privileges, and current visitation status before you travel.

Communication options at Telford Unit go through state-approved vendors and the agency technology program, so availability and features can vary by unit. To receive phone calls from an inmate, register your phone number at texasprisonphone.com and provide the inmate's TDCJ ID number. Remote video visits must be scheduled through the vendor website and are allowed once per month for up to 60 minutes, in addition to on-unit visits. If you use the Online Visitation Scheduler, plan ahead: once you create your account, the email cannot be deleted or changed. Setup uses a 7-digit validation code sent to the email you submit. Since September 1, 2020, only approved visitors or people on an inmate's Inmate Telephone List can deposit funds for someone at the Telford Unit. Don't mail deposits to the unit itself. Send a money order or cashier's check made payable to Inmate Trust Fund, along with a deposit slip, to PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060. Cash and personal checks are not accepted and will be returned. For ACH monthly debit, deposits are processed around the 5th and typically credited around the 10th (forms and a voided check must be mailed to the Inmate Trust Fund address). For online purchases, eCommDirect is the only approved program. It has quarterly limits, one purchase per inmate per day, waiting rules for newly received inmates, and service fees.
