Tipton Correctional Center Visiting Hours and Arrival Checklist
Tipton Correctional Center offers visits across two sessions on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Check the hours below, then review the arrival rules so you don't get turned away at the gate.
Tipton Correctional Center’s morning visiting session runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9:30am to 1:30pm. If you want the earliest option, this is the session to plan around.
An afternoon session is also available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 2:30pm to 6:30pm. Can't make the morning? This later block covers the same days.
Arrival Parking Rules
- ✓ Arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before the visiting session starts. If you show up too early, you may be told to wait off-site until the allowed window.
- ✓ Plan for first-come, first-served entry. Being within the allowed arrival window helps, but your place in line still matters.
Warning: No person or pet may be left in a vehicle on institutional grounds. Arrange childcare and pet care before you arrive.
How Sessions Filled Planning
- ✓ Get pre-approved through the Missouri DOC visiting application before you try to visit.
- ✓ Expect a criminal history check as part of the application review.
- Pick the session that fits your day: Tipton visits are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with a morning session (9:30am to 1:30pm) and an afternoon session (2:30pm to 6:30pm).
- Time your arrival for the allowed window: You can arrive in the parking lot no earlier than 30 minutes before the session starts.
- Treat the line like your check-in appointment: Visitors enter on a first-come, first-served basis, so arriving as soon as you are allowed can help you avoid a long wait or missing out.
Not sure you're approved? Confirm your visiting status before you travel. Tipton requires visitors to be pre-approved through the Missouri DOC visiting application, so don't make the trip until you have final approval.
