Tipton Correctional Center Visiting Hours and What to Expect
Visiting Tipton Correctional Center is straightforward once you know the schedule and a few ground rules. Here's what you need to know about visiting hours, what
Tipton Correctional Center’s published visiting hours are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with two sessions each day: 9:30am–1:30pm and 2:30pm–6:30pm. If you’re trying to plan around work, school pickups, or a longer drive, those two blocks are the windows to aim for.
Plan your timing around the parking lot rule: you can arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before visiting starts. If you show up too early, you may end up waiting off grounds until you’re within that window, so build that into your travel plan - especially if you’re coming from out of town.
Entry is handled first-come, first-served. That means the time you get there matters - if you’re hoping for a specific session or you’re visiting during a busy weekend, arriving as soon as you’re allowed can make check-in smoother.
Note: No person or pet may remain in a vehicle on institutional grounds.
Tipton limits visits to three visitors per offender. If you’re coming as a group, decide ahead of time who will be counted as the three so you’re not trying to sort it out at the door.
Heads up: Missouri DOC materials describe an “extra kids” allowance two different ways - one says visits may include up to 3 additional visitors age 10 and under (up to 6 total), while another says up to 3 additional visitors age 5 and under. If you’re planning to bring children beyond the 3-person limit, confirm which age cutoff Tipton will apply before you travel.
Even with a published schedule - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9:30am–1:30pm and 2:30pm–6:30pm - visiting can be affected by day-to-day operational needs. If you’re making a long trip, it’s worth double-checking plans close to your visit time so you don’t get caught by a last-minute change.
