What You Need Before Your First Visit to Toledo Correctional

For your first adult visit - especially during someone's reception period - you'll need three Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction forms: the Visitor Application (DRC2096), the Declaration of Understanding (DRC2554), and the General Visiting Instructions (DRC2274). The DRC2554 and DRC2274 are required documents that facilities must provide to visitors. Sign them and keep everything together so you're not digging through your bag at the front desk.

Bring your ID copy: A legible copy of your government-issued photo ID (your “bona fide” ID) must be provided with your visitor paperwork, and you’ll need it at your first visit.

Don’t leave blanks or “wing it”: If any question is unanswered - or if any answer is falsified - your visitor application will be disapproved.

After your visitor application gets approved, there's one more step before you can book a visit: registering with GTL VisitMe. If you're hoping to visit soon, give yourself time for both the approval process and registration - rushing either one can leave you stuck waiting.

All visits at Toledo Correctional require reservations. Call 419-726-7977 and follow prompt 1 (ext 62258), or email drc.visitationtoci@drc.ohio.gov.

First Visit Front Desk Items and Searches

  • Completed Visitor Application (DRC2096)
  • Signed Declaration of Understanding (DRC2554)
  • Signed General Visiting Instructions (DRC2274)
  • A legible copy of your bona fide government photo ID

Metal detector delays happen: Hairpins, underwire bras, boots with shanks, clothes with lots of zippers, and too much jewelry can all trigger the detector and slow your entry.
