What You Can Bring to the Visiting Room at Victorville — clear bag, coins, meds and inmate items
Keep it simple and entry goes smoothly. Here's exactly what you can carry into the Victorville visiting room, how much change is allowed for vending machines, and what items inmates can have with them during the visit.
Bring one small clear plastic container or bag for your personal items. It can't be larger than 8" x 12".
Want to use the vending machines? You can bring coins, but there's a $20 limit.
Bring a valid state or government-issued photo ID - you won't get in without it.
Essential medication is allowed, but tightly restricted. Think asthma inhalers or nitroglycerine - only the amount you'll need during the visit. The Visiting Room Officer holds onto it at the Officer's Station but won't dispense it for you. No other medication is allowed in the visiting room.
Inmate Items
- ✓ Wedding band
- ✓ White handkerchief
- ✓ Religious medal or headgear
- ✓ Prescription eyeglasses (no case)
- ✓ Essential medication (as allowed/limited for the visit)
One exception: during legal visits, inmates may bring legal materials into the visiting room.
Staff track inmate property coming in and going out. They fill out a Visiting Room Inmate Property form during in-processing, then check it again when the inmate leaves.
Warning: Any inmate property not inventoried before entering will be confiscated and turned over to the Operations Lieutenant. Staff will file a confiscation form and write an incident report.
The same strict rules apply to visitor medication: store essential meds at the Officer's Station. The officer won't dispense them, and no other medication is allowed inside.
