What You Can (and Can’t) Bring into the Visiting Room at USP Victorville

USP Victorville is strict about what enters the visiting room. Bring only what's authorized and leave everything else secured before you go in—this helps you avoid delays, turn-backs, or having items confiscated.

What You Can (and Can’t) Bring into the Visiting Room at USP Victorville

Visitors Allowed Items

Bring up to $20 in coins for the vending machines. Bills aren't allowed, and anything over $20 will need to stay outside the visiting area.

Bring a photo ID. You'll need it for check-in, and USP Victorville lists it as an authorized item for entry.

Essential medication is allowed in limited cases - think asthma inhalers or nitroglycerine. Bring only what you'll need during the visit. The Visiting Room Officer will hold onto it (they won't dispense it), and you can store it at the Officer's Station. No other medications are permitted in the visiting room.

Inmates are authorized to bring a wedding band into the Visiting Room.

Prescription eyeglasses are allowed, but the case isn't. If your loved one needs glasses to read or see during the visit, they can bring them - just leave the case behind.

Medication in the visiting room: Inmates may bring essential medication (such as an asthma inhaler or nitroglycerine), limited to the amount needed during the visit, and it is maintained by the Visiting Room Officer.

Infant Items

  • Two (2) diapers (per infant)
  • One (1) unopened package of baby wipes (per infant)
  • One (1) change of infant clothing (per infant)

If you're breastfeeding, you can nurse in an Attorney-Client Room within the visiting area. A chair will be placed in a discreet spot out of view of other inmates and visitors. Your incarcerated loved one won't be allowed to accompany you into that room.

  1. Pack to the authorized list only - use the limits above as your checklist, and assume anything else will be denied entry.
  2. Keep your bag simple and visible - use a small clear container/bag within the size limit so staff can screen it quickly.
  3. Separate “must-have” items from everything else - bring only what you’ll actually use during the visit (like your photo ID and permitted coins), and keep the rest out of the visiting area.
