Expect the visitor application process to take a while. At USCF, applications typically take 6–8 weeks to process, so don't worry if you don't hear back right away. The best way to avoid delays? Make sure everything you submit is complete and easy for staff to verify.

Note: After you sign up, the verification email can take up to two business days to arrive (holidays excluded). That’s separate from the longer 6–8 week application processing window.

Once you pass the background check, your information gets entered into the video visiting program. You'll then receive an email with your username, password, and instructions for logging in to schedule a visit.

After signing up, give it up to two business days for the verification email to arrive (holidays don't count). Don't expect it immediately - check back over the next couple of business days.

You'll need to email a copy of your government-issued photo ID to the correct visiting office. Send it to uspvisiting@utah.gov for Utah State Prison in Draper, or cucfvisiting@utah.gov for the Central Utah Correctional Facility.

  • Incarcerated person’s full name
  • Incarcerated person’s offender number
  • Incarcerated person’s housing assignment
  • Visitor’s first, middle, last, and maiden (if applicable) name
  • Visitor’s email
  • Visitor’s phone number
  • Your relationship to the incarcerated person (wife, mother, brother, etc.)
  1. Use your phone to take the photo - a clear cell phone photo is fine.
  2. Fill the frame with the ID - make it a close-up that shows the entire ID.
  3. Retake it if anything is cut off or blurry - the whole ID needs to be visible and readable before you email it.

When you're ready to schedule, build in some lead time. The Department requires 48-hour advance notice to book a video visit, so don't wait until the last minute.

Video visits at USCF run Monday through Thursday. If you're working around a job or childcare, plan for one of those weekdays - visits aren't held on other days.

Warning: Only sign up for one time slot per visiting day. If you sign up for multiple time slots on the same day, all sign-ups for that day will be denied.

Note: If you don’t follow the dress standards, you can be denied entry for an in-person visit or have the video feed terminated during a video visit.
