USCF Visiting Rules That Can End Your Visit — Dress Code, Scheduling Limits, Recording, and Visit Days
USCF visits can end fast if you show up on the wrong day, break the dress code, double-book a time slot, or record a video visit. Use the sections below to pick the right visit type and sidestep the common mistakes that lead to denial or termination.
At Utah State Correctional Facility (USCF), video visits run Monday through Thursday. In-person visits are Friday through Sunday. Show up for an in-person visit on a video-visit day (or the other way around) and you'll lose the visit entirely. Double-check which type you're scheduling before you lock in a time.
Dress Code Consequences
- ✓ Any clothing with a hood
- ✓ Tank tops
- ✓ Jeans or pants with tears in them
- ✓ Yoga style pants or leggings
- ✓ Open toed footwear (sandals, etc.)
- ✓ Low cut shirts
Note: If you don't follow the clothing standards, you can be denied entry for an in-person visit. For video visits, the feed can be terminated on the spot.
USCF allows only one sign-up per visiting day. Book multiple time slots on the same day and all of your sign-ups for that day can be denied. This trips up a lot of people who try to "hold" a backup time. Pick the one slot you can actually make and stick with it.
- Choose your one slot for the day. Before you submit anything, decide which single time you will use for that visiting day.
- If you double-booked, remove the extra booking(s). Use the same scheduling method you used to sign up, then cancel the additional time slot(s) so you are left with just one.
- Only rebook on a different day if you need more time. Because multiple slots on the same day can be denied, schedule your next visit for another visiting day instead of stacking times.
Do not record or photograph any portion of a USCF video visit. Live streaming and posting to social media are also prohibited. Even a quick screenshot or a short clip counts as a violation. Treat the entire visit as private and keep other devices and screens away from the session.
Warning: Any recording, photographing, live streaming, or posting can result in a suspension of visiting privileges for both the incarcerated person and the visitor.
USCF limits call time to 30 minutes per day for incarcerated individuals. The timer starts the moment the call connects. Once that daily time runs out, you'll need to schedule a visit on another day if you still need to talk.
- ✓ Go in with your top priorities, since you may only have 30 minutes total for the day
- ✓ Keep key information in front of you (names, dates, questions you need answered) so you are not searching mid-call
- ✓ Save non-urgent updates for later if you are trying to cover time-sensitive issues
- ✓ If you know you will need more than 30 minutes, plan on scheduling another day ahead of time
Practical Checklist
- ✓ Dress to the USCF standard. If you wear prohibited items, you can be denied entry for in-person visits or have the video feed terminated for video visits
- ✓ Sign up for only one time slot per visiting day. Multiple slots on the same day can get all of them denied
- ✓ Never record, photograph, live stream, or post any part of a video visit. That can suspend visiting privileges for both you and the incarcerated person
- ✓ Plan for the 30-minute daily call limit. When the timer runs out, you will need to schedule another day
