How to Sign Up for Victoria County’s Free Recording Notification Service (RNS)

Victoria County's Recording Notification Service (RNS) is a free program that alerts you when new documents are filed in the Official Public Records. If your name appears as a primary party on a recorded document, you'll get a notification so you can review what was filed.

Alerts arrive by email at the address you used to register. If you're signing up to monitor records while a loved one is incarcerated, use an inbox you check regularly - you don't want to miss time-sensitive notices.

Each alert includes a direct link to the recorded document. This makes it easy to verify whether the filing actually relates to your property or the person you're monitoring - helpful when dealing with common names.

Limit to plan for: You can track up to five persons or properties per registered email address. If you’re trying to monitor several family members or multiple properties, you may need to prioritize what you track under that one email.

To start, change, or stop notifications, you'll handle it yourself through the Victoria County Clerk's Recording Notification Service Page. County Clerk staff can't view, modify, or remove your subscriptions - all updates, including unsubscribing, must go through that RNS page.

Practical Tip

  • Use an email address you check regularly - RNS alerts are sent to the same email you registered with.
  • Open the alert and use the document link to confirm it’s actually related to the person/property you’re monitoring; common names can trigger alerts that belong to someone else.
