Before a child can visit Warren Correctional Institution, you need to complete the Minor Visitor Application (DRC2238). The form requires a signature from the child's custodial parent or legal guardian, so plan ahead if you need time to gather documents or coordinate signatures.

Note: The DRC2238 must be submitted and approved before the child's first visit. Don't wait until the week you're hoping to go.

Along with the Minor Visitor Application (DRC2238), you need to include documents that prove two things: the child's identity and your legal parentage or guardianship. These get verified before the child can be approved, so make sure the copies you provide are clear and complete.

  • Birth certificate (can be used to satisfy identity verification)
  • Change of custody documents (if applicable)

Even after a minor is approved, children don't visit Warren on their own. Every visitor under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the visit.

Can't be there yourself? A custodial parent or legal guardian can fill out an Authorization for Minor Child Visitation form to designate another approved visitor to accompany the child during the visit.

If you use the Authorization for Minor Child Visitation form, set a reminder for renewal. That authorization expires after one year. It also needs to be renewed if the facility being visited changes.

Once the facility verifies the Minor Visitor Application and supporting documents, the child gets recorded as an approved minor visitor for future scheduling. The key is timing: approval has to be in place before the first visit can happen.

  1. Use the online visitor portal to request a visit. Reservations are required for all visits at Warren Correctional Institution.
  2. Add the minor visitor details in your request. If the child is related to the incarcerated person, list the minor’s first name and relationship. If the child is not related, list the minor’s age only.
