How to Get Approved for Visits at Washita County Jail

The approval process begins on the inside. Your inmate needs to request a visitor form from a Jail Officer, fill it out with each visitor's name, address, and date of birth, then return it to a Jail Officer.

Inmates can list up to six people on their visitation list, but only three approved visitors can come on any given visitation day. Keep that in mind when deciding who gets listed first. Once you're approved, you can visit once per week for a 10-minute visit - either Monday or Friday. All visits are non-contact, meaning there's a barrier between you and the inmate.

Heads-up: Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. And if you've been in custody at Washita County Jail yourself, you'll need to wait at least 30 days from your release date before visiting an inmate.

Before approving any visitor, Washita County Jail runs records and warrant checks. If there's a question about your eligibility, that's usually where it surfaces.

Reminder: If you were recently released from Washita County Jail, you can’t visit anyone there until at least 30 days after your release date.

Need to add someone new or make changes to the visitor list? That doesn't happen automatically. Any additions or changes must be approved by the Jail Administrator.

For questions about visitation, call the Jail Administrator at (580) 832-2413. If you need to arrange something outside the normal routine, call during business hours before making the trip - you don't want to show up only to be turned away.

Out-of-state visitors: You may request a one-time special visit outside normal visitation hours, but it requires permission from the Jail Administrator.

Practical Tips

  • Make sure the inmate lists each visitor’s name, address, and date of birth on the visitor form before turning it in to a Jail Officer.
  • Keep the list strategic: the inmate can list up to six visitors total, but only three approved visitors can visit on any visitation day.
  • Plan around the limits: each approved visitor can visit once per week for a 10-minute, non-contact visit on either Monday or Friday.
  1. Have the inmate submit the visitor form - the inmate completes the form and returns it to a Jail Officer for processing.
  2. Wait for the jail’s approval process to run - visitors are checked before they’re allowed to visit.
  3. Call the Jail Administrator if you need confirmation or an exception - for questions or special visitation requests, contact the Jail Administrator at (580) 832-2413 during normal business hours, and remember that additions or changes require the Jail Administrator’s approval.
