How to Get on an Inmate's Visitor List at Washita County Jail

Getting approved to visit someone at Washita County Jail starts with the inmate. They fill out a visitor form, the jail reviews and approves the names, and then you can plan your visit during scheduled visitation times.

The inmate kicks off the process. They request a visitor form from a Jail Officer, fill it out, and return the completed form to a Jail Officer. You can't start this from the outside.

On the form, the inmate lists who they want to visit them, along with each person's name, address, and date of birth. Once it's turned in, the jail runs records and warrant checks on everyone listed before approving anyone for visitation.

Form Fields

  • Visitor’s name
  • Visitor’s address
  • Visitor’s date of birth

Tip: Use each person's full legal name on the form, including a middle name if you know it. This helps the jail match the name to the correct records during their checks.

After the inmate turns in the form, Washita County Jail runs records and warrant checks on every visitor listed. Only people cleared by jail staff are allowed to visit.

One rule that catches people off guard: if you've been in custody at Washita County Jail, you cannot visit any inmate for at least 30 days after your release date.

Plan the list carefully. Washita County Jail caps each inmate's approved visitation list at six visitors total.

Even if all six people are approved, only three can visit on any given visitation day. If more than three show up, someone will have to sit that visit out.

Visits happen Monday and Friday mornings from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Each approved visitor can come once per week, and visits last 10 minutes. All visits are non-contact only, so expect a glass partition or similar barrier.

Bringing kids? Children under 18 can only visit if accompanied by an adult. Clergy visits are allowed by appointment, and clergy must present credentials when scheduling. If you're coming from out of state, you can request a one-time special visit outside normal hours, but you'll need permission from the Jail Administrator.

Once a visitor list is submitted, changes aren't automatic. Any additions or updates to the approved list must go through the Jail Administrator for approval.

For questions about visitation policies, or if you need to add or change someone on the visitor list, call the Jail Administrator at (580) 832-2413.

Quick Checklist

  • Gather each visitor’s name, address, and date of birth before the inmate fills out the form
  • Use full legal names so the jail can complete records and warrant checks without confusion
  • Think through the six-person visitor list limit so the inmate prioritizes who to include
  1. Wait for approval - visitors are checked through records and warrant checks, and only approved people can visit.
  2. Pick a visit day and time window - visitation is Monday and Friday, 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
  3. Keep your group size within the daily limit - no more than three approved visitors can visit on a single visitation day.
  4. Plan for a short, non-contact visit - each approved visitor gets one 10-minute visit per week, and all visits are non-contact.

Need help with the visitor list? Additions and changes require Jail Administrator approval. Call (580) 832-2413 for questions.
