Bringing Kids to Visit at WKCC: Minors, the Approved List, and Notarized Permission

WKCC doesn't set a numeric limit on how many minors can attend a visit. The key requirement: every child must be on the inmate's approved visitor list. If a child isn't on that list, expect problems at check-in, even if you're otherwise approved to visit.

That flexibility for kids doesn't change the adult headcount rule. Each inmate is allowed two adult visitors at a time, so plan your group around that limit even if multiple children are coming along.

If you're bringing a child and you aren't the child's parent or legal guardian, WKCC requires written permission from the parent or legal guardian. That permission must be notarized, and it needs to clearly state that the minor is allowed to enter the institution with the approved visitor.

1. Time your arrival for the entry window. Visitors may enter the institution no earlier than 30 minutes before 7:00 a.m.
2. Aim for 6:30 a.m. if you can. WKCC recommends arriving 30 minutes before the visit (6:30 a.m.) so you can clear security processing and receive your entire four-hour visit.

• ✓ No visitor will be processed after 9:00 a.m.
• ✓ No appointment is required for visitation at WKCC.
• ✓ If a non-parent or non-legal guardian is bringing a child, bring the required notarized written permission.

When planning who's coming, think in two categories: adults and minors. WKCC caps adult visitors at two per inmate at a time, but there's no limit on the number of minors. Each child just needs to be on the inmate's approved visitor list.
