Why You Should Arrive by 6:30 a.m. for WKCC Visits (And What Happens If You Don't)

At Western Kentucky Correctional Complex (WKCC), visitation start time is 7:00 a.m., but the end time depends on where your loved one is housed. Meritorious Housing and Ross-Cash visitation run from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Non-meritorious housing visitation runs from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Visits start at 7:00 a.m., but you can enter the facility 30 minutes early - making 6:30 a.m. the key time. That's your window to clear security and check in so you're ready when visiting begins.

9:00 a.m. cutoff: WKCC will not process any visitor after 9:00 a.m. If you arrive too late to be processed, you can be turned away for the day.

That 9:00 a.m. rule is the difference between running late and missing your visit entirely. Show up close to the cutoff and you're gambling on whether you'll get processed in time. Lose that gamble, and you won't be allowed in. Even if you do make it through, arriving late costs you visit time you can't get back.

WKCC recommends arriving 30 minutes before the visit - 6:30 a.m. - so you can clear security and get your full four hours. That lines up with the entry rule: 6:30 a.m. is the earliest you're allowed in, so it's also your best chance to get processed without stress.

Think of it this way: arrive at 6:30 a.m., enter when allowed, and get processed before the 7:00 a.m. start. The later you push your arrival, the more you're counting on everything moving fast enough to beat the 9:00 a.m. cutoff. Miss it, and you don't get a visit.
