Before Your First Visit to WRDCC: Printable Checklist (ID, Dress, Items, Arrival)
Your first visit to WRDCC goes much smoother when you show up with the right ID, the right clothing, and only what they allow inside. Use the checklist below to avoid a wasted trip.
WRDCC visiting sessions run Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with two time blocks each day: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Plan your drive so you’re ready to check in at the start of your session.
- ✓ Arrive in the parking lot no earlier than 30 minutes before visiting starts.
- ✓ Expect admission to be first-come, first-served.
- ✓ Don’t leave any person or pet in the vehicle on institutional grounds.
Every adult visitor needs a valid photo ID. WRDCC accepts a current driver's license or a Department of Revenue ID card. Double-check your wallet before you leave home.
Bringing a teen visitor (ages 13–18)? They'll need their own ID: a current school photo ID with their name on it, or a valid federal or state government-issued ID. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an authorized adult visitor unless they're married to the offender.
Dress Code
- ✓ Tight or excessively baggy clothing, or anything transparent or revealing
- ✓ Camouflage designs
- ✓ Clothing with gang, racial, inappropriate, or inflammatory language or symbols
- ✓ Skirts, dresses, or shorts shorter than the top of the kneecap when standing
- ✓ Wrap-around or slit skirts/dresses
- ✓ Pants with holes or slits
Your top must cover your chest, cleavage, back, and stomach, with sleeves that cover your shoulders. Appropriate undergarments and closed shoes are also required.
Note: Headwear isn’t allowed unless it’s for verified religious purposes, and it may be searched. Undergarments with wire or metal supports are discouraged because they can set off metal detectors.
Allowed Items and Medical
- ✓ Bring coins for vending machines only if they’re in a clear sandwich bag or a transparent plastic pouch.
Need medication or medical supplies during your visit? You can bring life-sustaining items like nitroglycerin, insulin and insulin supplies, oxygen, or an asthma inhaler - but only in the original container and only the dosage needed for the visiting period. Let staff know when you arrive, and give advance notice to the case manager when required.
- Get a physician’s statement - if you have special medical equipment (like a walker, wheelchair, or surgically implanted metal hardware), bring documentation from your doctor.
- Notify the case manager in advance - give advance notice so staff are aware of your needs.
- Bring your documentation with you - have the physician’s statement available when you arrive.
Infant Toddler Supplies
- ✓ 1 clear carry-all
- ✓ Up to 6 diapers
- ✓ 1 blanket
- ✓ Up to 3 clear plastic bottles of prepared infant beverage
- ✓ 1 clear plastic no-spill toddler cup
- ✓ Up to 3 unopened vendor containers of baby food
- ✓ 1 plastic pacifier/teether/rattle
- ✓ 1 small plastic spoon
- ✓ 1 unopened package of baby wipes
Expect airport-style screening when you enter. The Missouri DOC uses the Intercept full-body scanner along with walk-through metal detectors, hand-held metal detectors, and X-ray baggage scanners to keep out weapons, drugs, and other prohibited items.
Before your first scan, the system stores your name and ID number (from a driver's license, non-driver ID, or passport) and takes a photograph. Anyone 18 or older goes through a full-body scan unless they have an approved exception - such as a verified medical condition or pregnancy.
