What to Expect at WRDCC Visiting Hours: Friday–Sunday Sessions and Arrival Rules
Visits at WRDCC follow a strict schedule—Friday through Sunday only, with two sessions each day. Know the check-in rules before you go, and the whole process gets a lot easier.
WRDCC holds in-person visits only on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Each day has two sessions: morning runs 9:30am–1:30pm, afternoon runs 2:30pm–6:30pm. Show up outside those windows and you'll wait until the next session - or the next visiting day.
Note: No in-person visits Monday through Thursday. Plan for one of the two daily sessions: 9:30am–1:30pm or 2:30pm–6:30pm.
WRDCC limits how early you can arrive: don't pull into the parking lot more than 30 minutes before the session starts. Once doors open, entry is first-come, first-served. On busy weekends, your spot in line determines how fast you get through.
Warning: No one - including pets - can stay in a vehicle on facility grounds during visiting hours. Make sure everyone in your group can come inside, or arrange a drop-off.
Before you drive out, confirm you're approved to visit. WRDCC requires a visiting application and criminal history check. Without approval, you won't get in - even if you arrive during visiting hours.

- ✓ Get pre-approved before you go by completing the visiting application (a criminal history check is part of the process).
- ✓ Bring a valid photo ID if you’re an adult (for example, a current driver’s license or Department of Revenue ID card).
- ✓ If you’re 13–18, bring a current school photo ID that includes your name, or a valid federal/state government-issued ID.
- ✓ If you’re under 18 (and not married to the offender), come with an authorized adult visitor.
Security screening works like the airport. WRDCC uses the Intercept full-body scanner, plus walk-through and hand-held metal detectors and X-ray baggage scanners. On your first visit, staff will enter your name and ID number into the scanner system - have your ID ready to keep things moving.
Tip: Weekends get crowded at check-in. Entry is first-come, first-served, and the scanner process adds time. Arrive within the 30-minute window with IDs already in hand.
