Who Can Visit at WRDCC: Immediate Family, Extended Family, Friends and Visitor Limits
WRDCC follows Missouri Department of Corrections visiting rules, which determine who can apply to visit and how many people are allowed in a visit at once. Here's what you need to know about immediate family, extended family, friends, and visitor limits.
Missouri DOC defines "immediate family" as a specific set of relationships. This includes your spouse, legal guardian, parents, in-laws, siblings, children, grandparents, great-grandparents, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. If you fall into one of these categories, you're eligible to apply.
Not immediate family? You may still be able to visit. The DOC recognizes extended family (uncles, aunts, cousins), significant others, friends, and clergy as visitor categories. Regardless of your relationship, you must be pre-approved before visiting. Approval comes through the Department of Corrections visiting application, which includes a criminal history check. Fill it out thoroughly and honestly - incomplete or inaccurate applications cause delays.
If you’re denied: You can appeal in writing within 30 days. If the denial stands, you may reapply for visiting status after one year.
Each visit allows up to three visitors per offender. You can also bring up to three additional children age 5 and under.
You're generally allowed to visit only one offender. The exception: if you're immediate family to more than one person incarcerated in the system, you may be approved to visit both. Immediate family means spouse, legal guardian, parents, in-laws, siblings, children, grandparents, great-grandparents, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
