Plan Your Visit to Wichita County Jail: Which Day, When to Sign Up, and What to Bring
Visiting someone at Wichita County Jail is straightforward once you know the rules—but the schedule and signup windows are strict. Here's how to pick the right day, show up during the narrow signup times, and bring only what's allowed.
Wichita County Jail assigns in-person visitation days by inmate group and gender. Monday is for all female inmates. For male inmates, the day depends on last name: Tuesday is A–G, Wednesday is H–O, and Thursday is P–Z. Friday is reserved for SHU/Medical.
Two visitation sessions run each day: 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Pick whichever works for you - but showing up during visit hours isn't enough. You have to sign up beforehand, or you won't get in.
Don't miss the signup window: Day visitation signup is 12:15 pm–12:45 pm. Night visitation signup is 5:15 pm–5:45 pm. Miss that window, and you won't be authorized to visit.
Visitors age 17 and older get 20 minutes per visit. You can see the same inmate twice in a one-week period, but the jail caps it at two visitors per inmate per week total. If multiple family members want to visit, coordinate ahead of time.
ID Paperwork
- ✓ If you’re 17 or older, bring a current, valid picture ID issued by the state or military.
- ✓ Don’t rely on a school ID - school IDs are not accepted.
Allowed Items
- ✓ Bring only your ID card and car keys into the Law Enforcement Center.
- ✓ Leave everything else in your vehicle.
No phones, no exceptions: Bringing a cell phone or any electronic device into the visitation areas - including the lobby - will end your visit. It can also get you banned from future visits.
Dress Children
- ✓ Wear proper clothing: shirts and shoes are required.
- ✓ Don’t wear tank tops, halter tops, see-through blouses, short shorts, or short skirts.
- ✓ Children 16 and under can visit only with an adult.
- ✓ Plan for the one-child-per-adult limit (an infant who is not walking doesn’t count toward the one-child limit).
- ✓ Make sure any children who aren’t visiting still have adult supervision - children can’t be left alone.
- Match the inmate to the correct day - Monday is all females; males visit by last name (A–G Tuesday, H–O Wednesday, P–Z Thursday), and Friday is SHU/Medical.
- Show up for signup (not just visit hours) - sign up 12:15 pm–12:45 pm for day visits or 5:15 pm–5:45 pm for night visits, or you won’t be authorized.
- Bring the right ID if you’re 17+ - you’ll need a current, valid picture ID that’s state- or military-issued.
- Walk in with only what’s allowed - take only your ID and car keys inside; leave everything else in your vehicle.
- Keep all phones and electronics out - having a phone/electronic device in the visitation or lobby areas can end the visit and may get you barred.
Since visitation runs in two blocks (1:00–5:00 and 6:00–8:00), the key is building your day around the signup window before your session. Keep the limits in mind too: visitors 17+ get 20 minutes, and you're allowed two visits per inmate per week. Planning to use both? Schedule them on separate eligible days, and coordinate with family - only two visitors per inmate are allowed each week.
