Dress

  • Shorts - swap for full-length pants if you’re unsure.
  • Mini-skirts - choose a longer skirt or a more conservative outfit.
  • Tank-tops - wear a shirt with sleeves.
  • Low-cut shirts - go with a higher neckline to avoid being denied.
  • Transparent (see-through) clothing - pick opaque fabric so nothing shows through.

Warning: If you show up in prohibited clothing (like shorts, mini-skirts, tank tops, low-cut shirts, or transparent clothing), you won’t be permitted to visit.

Travel light. Weapons - including firearms and knives - aren't allowed in the visitation booth. Electronics like cell phones, tablets, and recording devices are also prohibited. The easiest move? Leave these items at home or lock them in your car before heading inside.

Reminder: The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is not responsible for any items left in the lobby - another good reason to leave valuables secured in your car.

Keep your words and gestures respectful during the visit. Vulgar language or gestures violate facility rules and can result in disciplinary action - or end your visit immediately. And don't plan on stepping out for a smoke. Tobacco products, smoking, and vaping are prohibited at all times.

Bringing kids? Plan ahead. Anyone under 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Wood County Jail limits visits to two people at a time per inmate - and children count toward that limit - so you may need to decide who goes in. Once inside, the adult is responsible for any minors in their care.
