Mailing Letters to Yuma County Detention Center: TextBehind Rules, Exceptions, and What Happens After You Send It
As of May 13, 2024, all incoming mail to Yuma County Detention Center goes through TextBehind. Send it anywhere else, and it comes right back to you. Double-check that envelope before you drop it in the mailbox. Use this exact mailing address for letters and photos: (Inmate Name/Jacket Number) Yuma County Detention Center P.O. Box 76550 Highland Heights, KY 41076
- ✓ Write the recipient as (Inmate Name/Jacket Number) on the first line.
- ✓ Address it to Yuma County Detention Center, P.O. Box 76550, Highland Heights, KY 41076.
- ✓ If you don’t know the jacket number, call the Detention Center at (928) 782-9871.
TextBehind scans everything, so anything too large, too thick, or likely to jam a scanner gets rejected. Stick to letter-sized pages and lightweight paper. One more thing: no packages. TextBehind won't process parcels for the Detention Center.
- ✓ Any correspondence larger than 8½ x 11 inches (letter size)
- ✓ Paper thicker than light card stock
- ✓ Parcel packages (TextBehind won’t process them)
- ✓ Materials that can cause problems with the vendor’s scanner, including items with raised decorations, glue, glitter, cardboard, or stickers
- ✓ Extra items tucked into the envelope, including stamps, blank envelopes, stationery, stickers, or address labels
- ✓ Photo batches over the allowed limit: up to 10 photos per package
Books and magazines work differently. You can purchase them from reputable publishers or retailers and have them shipped directly to the Detention Center - just make sure they come straight from the source.
Some legal documents require original signatures. The Detention Center accepts these as "Non-Attorney Legal Mail" - just mark the envelope clearly with "Non-Attorney Legal Mail" and they'll process it within a reasonable timeframe.
After TextBehind receives your mail, they scan it at their facility. Once released, your loved one can view the scanned version on the inmate tablets. Sending photos? Keep it to 10 photos per package - that's the limit.
Heads up: TextBehind destroys all original mail and photos after scanning. You won't get them back.
