Prepare to take a child to visit a parent at Burlington County Jail

If you bring a child under 18, the incarcerated person must be the child's parent, and an adult parent or legal guardian must accompany the child. Children under 18 do not count as visitors on the visitor list, but no more than two babies or children are allowed.

You must bring identification for each child. It should come from a state or governmental agency and clearly show the visitor's name, address and date of birth. A child with no other form of ID must have a birth certificate. The accepted options are:

  • ✓ Birth certificate
  • ✓ Current state driver's license
  • ✓ Military ID card
  • ✓ Welfare identification
  • ✓ Employment photo ID
  • ✓ Current passport

ID cards purchased at convenience or discount stores are not accepted. If questions about a visitor's identity remain, the visit will be denied.

You must supervise and control the children throughout the visit. They must remain seated and may not roam around the visiting room.

If you are bringing an infant or young child, plan around two restrictions in the visiting area: strollers and baby carriages are not allowed, and diapers may not be changed there.

Burlington County Jail offers contact and non-contact visits at the Burlington County Detention Facility. The county page records temporary booth-visiting rules effective June 14, 2021, including masks. Treat that notice as dated guidance and confirm current arrangements before travel.

No visiting sessions are held when a state of emergency is called.

Before you travel, confirm the applicable visiting arrangements with the facility. For questions, Burlington County Correctional Facility's general contact number is 609-265-5979.
