Prepare to take a child to visit a parent at Burlington County Jail
Prepare for a child’s visit to a parent at Burlington County Jail, including eligibility, identification, supervision and visiting-room restrictions.
If you bring a child under 18 to Burlington County Jail, the incarcerated person must be the child’s parent, and an adult parent or legal guardian must accompany the child. Children under 18 do not count as visitors on the visitor list, but no more than two babies or children are allowed. Bring identification for each child. A child who has no other form of ID must have a birth certificate. During the visit, you must supervise the children and keep them seated. They may not roam around the visiting room. Strollers and baby carriages are not allowed in the visiting area, and you may not change diapers there.

You must bring identification for each child. It should come from a state or governmental agency and clearly show the child’s name, address and date of birth. Accepted options include a birth certificate, current state driver’s license, military ID card, welfare identification, employment photo ID or current passport. A birth certificate is required if the child has no other form of ID. Convenience-store or discount-store ID cards are not accepted, and the visit will be denied if questions about identity remain.
