  • Workhouse/work-release visit length: 45 minutes per inmate (non-contact, behind the glass)

For main jail visits, sign-in is broken out by male and female visiting windows. For males, the sign-in times are 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, and 2:00 PM. For females, the visiting window runs 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM, with sign-in times at 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM.

Scheduling trips up most people because the main jail and workhouse use completely different call-in days. For the main jail, you schedule by phone ahead of time. Call the prior Sunday between 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM to sign up for a Wednesday visit. For Saturday visits, call the prior Thursday during the same 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM window. Workhouse and work-release visits work differently. Call on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM to schedule. Slots are first come, first served - treat that window like a limited sign-up period, not something you can do anytime.

Tip: Call right when the window opens - Sunday or Thursday at 8:30 AM for main jail, Saturday at 8:00 AM for workhouse. Workhouse slots fill up fast since it's first come, first served.

Workhouse and work-release visits are non-contact. You won't be in the same room - visits happen behind glass, and you'll talk through a phone handset. Keep in mind that conversations may be recorded. Stick to supportive, everyday topics and avoid anything that could cause problems later.

The phone rules can seem confusing at first. Cell phones are allowed in the lobby but not in the visitation booth. Once you're in the booth, you'll use the facility's phone handset for your conversation.

Workhouse visits have extra eligibility rules. If you've been housed at the workhouse before or have pending felonies, you can't visit a workhouse inmate without prior approval from the Jailer. On probation or parole? You'll need written permission from your probation/parole officer first. Either way, handle the approval before you try to schedule - otherwise you may lose your slot.
