What to Bring (and Leave) When Visiting Calloway County Jail
Visiting someone in jail is stressful enough. Packing the right things—and leaving the wrong ones behind—can save you from being turned away at the door. Use this checklist to get through your visit without surprises.
Bring a picture ID. Calloway County Jail checks identification at check-in, and you won't get in without it.
Plan your group ahead of time. Each visit allows up to two adult visitors. There's no limit on children, but anyone under 18 must come with an adult. Bringing kids? Make sure you have enough adults to keep everyone supervised.
Items You Must Not Bring
- ✓ Food
- ✓ Drinks
- ✓ Weapons of any kind (concealed or not)
Warning: If you show up appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs - or you’re loud or unruly - you’ll be told to leave, and you may be arrested.
You can bring your phone into the lobby, but it can't go into the visitation booth. Keep it put away and follow staff directions - otherwise your visit could get cut short.
Visits at the main jail happen through glass using a phone handset - no face-to-face contact. Conversations may be recorded, so stay focused and avoid discussing anything you wouldn't want repeated. If you've heard different rules about video visitation from other sources, call the jail to confirm the current setup before planning around it.
- ✓ No indecent exposure or nudity
- ✓ No drugs or alcohol
- ✓ No illegal activity
- ✓ No abusive or disruptive behavior
Stay calm and respectful from the moment you arrive. Show up appearing intoxicated, or act loud and unruly, and you'll be asked to leave - possibly arrested. The same goes for video visits: disruptive behavior ends the call fast.
No-contact orders still apply during visitation. Calloway County Jail enforces them, so don't try to schedule or attend a visit that would violate a court order.
