How to Get Approved for Visitation at Chickasaw: Understanding the 10-Person List
Want to visit someone at Chickasaw? Your name has to be on their approved visitor list first. Here's how the 10-person list works, how many people can visit at once, and what to keep in mind over time.
At Chickasaw, the approved visitation list is the gatekeeper. No name on the list? No visit. The good news: immediate family members get permanent status. Once you're approved as immediate family, you stay on the list unless the inmate removes you.
Note: If you’re immediate family, you stay on the approved list unless the inmate removes you.
The "10-person list" is exactly what it sounds like: each inmate can have up to ten (10) visitors on their approved list. If it's already full, someone has to come off before a new person can be added.
That 10-person list is separate from how many people can show up on a single visit. Even with ten names approved, only five (5) people can visit at one time - and that includes babies and children. If you're planning a family visit, you may need to split into groups or take turns on different days to stay under the cap.
Quick reminder: The approved list can include up to 10 names, but only up to 5 people (including children and babies) can visit at one time.
Age matters for approval. Anyone 16 or older must be on the offender's approved list - no exceptions. A 16- or 17-year-old can't just tag along; they need to be approved ahead of time.
- ✓ Driver’s license
- ✓ State ID
- ✓ Passport
Plan on visiting just one inmate per trip. Chickasaw only allows visitors to see one (1) inmate during a visit - unless you're immediate family of another inmate housed there. If you need to see more than one person, confirm whether that exception applies to you before you go.
Your approval isn't permanent. Chickasaw reviews visitation lists annually, so don't assume you're set forever. Check in periodically to make sure your status is still active.
- ✓ Confirm you’re actually on the offender’s approved list before you make travel plans - the list is capped at ten (10) names.
- ✓ If you’re 16 or older, make sure you’re on the approved list for each visit.
- ✓ If you’re 18 or older, bring valid photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, or passport).
- ✓ Count your group before you go: no more than five (5) people can visit at one time, and that includes babies/children.
- ✓ Don’t expect to visit multiple inmates in one trip unless you’re immediate family of another inmate.
- ✓ Remember the list is reviewed annually - if anything changes, check that your approval is still current.
- ✓ If you’re immediate family, you remain on the list unless the inmate removes you.
