Choose photos to send to someone at Goose Creek Correctional Center
You can use Goose Creek Correctional Center’s August 11, 2022 requirements to choose photo formats and quantities before buying prints. The key rule is that photos must arrive directly from an approved vendor, not enclosed in your personal mail.
Goose Creek Correctional Center’s August 11, 2022 basic mail requirements allow photos only when they arrive directly from one of four approved vendors: Shutterfly, Pelipost, Freeprints, or Walmart.com.
Enclosing prints in your personal letter does not meet the direct-from-approved-vendor requirement, even if you bought them from one of those vendors.
Choose prints no larger than 4 by 6 inches. The photo limits are no more than 10 per day and 50 total per week. When selecting the print format, exclude either of these backings:
- ✓ Sticky backing
- ✓ Magnetic backing
Vendor delivery does not exempt photos from the prohibited-mail rules. Staff may reject prohibited material in part or in full. Do not tape, paste, or otherwise attach photos to another item, except for taping by security staff, or add glitter, stamps, stickers, or other adhesive embellishments.
Sexually explicit photos are prohibited. The definition includes depicted nudity: genitalia, female breasts, nipples or areolas, and buttocks or the anus, including when visible through clothing. The exceptions cover educational, medical/scientific, or artistic materials acquired by the Department, and qualifying materials purchased or possessed by prisoners and approved case by case by the institution head or designee. These exceptions do not give general permission to send personal nude photos.
The restrictions also prohibit threats or plans of harm, material that aids escape or encourages violence, instructions for making or using weapons, and procedures for making or cultivating drugs or poisons. Gang-related material and tattoo information or templates are prohibited too. Photos containing prohibited content may be rejected even when their vendor, size, and quantity meet the requirements.
