How Huron County Sheriff Sales Work: A First-Timer’s Guide to Online Foreclosure Auctions

Huron County runs its real estate foreclosure and delinquent tax sheriff sales online through Realauction's "Official Public Sheriff's Sale Website." You won't be bidding in person at the courthouse - everything happens on the Realauction platform.

Sales happen on a regular schedule: Mondays at 10:00 AM. Plan your prep time around that start - you'll want to be registered and ready before bidding opens.

Before you can bid, you'll need to register with Realauction and place an online deposit. The deposit must be in place before bidding opens, so don't wait until auction morning to get set up.

Deposit Tiers

  • Appraisal of $10,000 or less: $2,000 online deposit
  • Appraisal of more than $10,000 and up to $200,000: $5,000 online deposit
  • Appraisal of more than $200,000: $10,000 online deposit

Win the auction? Balances due after sale confirmation must be paid to The Huron County Sheriff's Office by bank certified check or money order made payable to The Huron County Sheriff's Office. Plan ahead - personal checks, company checks, home equity loan checks, and cash are all rejected.

Only bid if you're ready to follow through. Fail to pay the balance, and your deposit is forfeited to the plaintiff - it goes toward advertising costs, resale expenses, and interest charges.

For updated information about each sale, call the Huron County Sheriff’s Office at 419-668-6912 and ask to speak to the Civil Office.
