How to Prepare for a Family Visit at IAH Polk Adult Detention Facility

IAH Polk Adult Detention Facility, also known as IAH Secure Adult Detention Facility, is at 3400 FM 350 South, Livingston, TX 77351. Updated August 12, 2026, friends-and-family visiting hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visits depend on visitation-room availability and the facility’s security requirements.

Every adult visitor must present a valid, verifiable government-issued identification card. A minor must be accompanied by an adult guardian who is at least 18 and cannot be left unattended in the waiting room, visiting room or any other part of the facility. The simultaneous visitor limit is interpreted flexibly and is subject to exceptions, but you should prepare for the following party-size limits.

• ✓ No more than two adults visiting at one time
• ✓ No more than two children visiting at one time

Anyone seeking admission to the facility or visitation area is subject to a pat-down, inspection of belongings and metal scan. If you refuse to cooperate with a reasonable search, you will not be admitted. Visitors who are or appear intoxicated will not be allowed to visit, and visitors may not pass or attempt to pass any item to a detainee.

• ✓ Firearms or weapons of any kind
• ✓ Any item carried into the visitation area
• ✓ Electronic devices, including cell phones, pagers and radios, in secure areas

All family and other social visits are non-contact. Detainees are ordinarily allotted one hour for visitation. The Assistant Warden may authorize more time for family members traveling significant distances, depending on the number of visitors and staff availability.
