How to Set Up GTL Phone Accounts for Calls from Maricopa County Jail
If someone you care about is in a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) jail and wants to call you, you'll need to set things up through Global Tel*Link (GTL).
GTL runs the inmate phone system for MCSO. This means most call-related setup and account changes happen through GTL - not the jail itself.
To receive and pay for calls, you'll need a GTL account. Once that's set up, you can choose between two billing options - Collect or Prepaid (AdvancePay) - depending on your phone type and how often you expect calls.
MCSO offers two billing programs through GTL: Collect and Prepaid (AdvancePay). Both require a friends-and-family account with GTL. If you want calls working quickly, create your GTL account first, then pick the billing option you want for your phone number.
AdvancePay isn't optional in every case. MCSO requires it for calls to cell phones and for people who accept a high volume of inmate calls. If your main number is a mobile - or you expect frequent calls - setting up AdvancePay from the start saves headaches later.
Tip: If calls will be coming to your cell phone, set up AdvancePay - MCSO requires it for calls to mobile numbers and for situations where many inmate calls are accepted.
Adding money is straightforward. For AdvancePay deposits, call (800) 483-8314. For PIN Debit deposits, call (855) 706-2445. Save these numbers - reloading quickly when funds run low is the fastest way to keep calls coming through.
