Setting Up Phone Calls from Moberly: PINs, Securus, Debit Minutes and JPay
Phone calls are one of the fastest ways to stay connected—but the setup can feel confusing your first time. Here's how outgoing calls work at Moberly Correctional Center, how the PIN system fits in, and the main ways families fund call time through debit minutes, Securus, and JPay tablets.
Moberly Correctional Center doesn't allow incoming calls. Your loved one can place outgoing calls, but only when they're not on restricted status. If they're housed in a segregation unit, phone access is limited - expect fewer call opportunities.
One thing to know upfront: all calls are monitored for security. If you hear recordings or reminders during the call, that's normal for calls from a correctional facility.
To make a call from Moberly, your loved one uses an automated system that requires a personal identification number (PIN). The PIN is tied to them specifically, which helps the facility track and authorize phone use. Since calls are monitored, assume any conversation may be listened to or recorded.
The phone system handles three call types: collect, debit, and prepaid. Which one you use depends on how the call is funded - either through money the incarcerated person has for debit minutes, or through a prepaid account set up on the outside.
Funding-options
- ✓ Debit minutes (facility purchase) - Calls can be funded when the incarcerated person purchases debit minutes inside the facility, such as through the canteen or a kiosk.
- ✓ Securus (AdvanceConnect or deposits) - You can fund calls by setting up an AdvanceConnect prepaid account, or by adding funds to a Securus Debit account your loved one can use for services at their location.
- ✓ JPay tablet calls (powered by Securus) - Where available, your loved one may be able to place phone calls through a phone application on a JPay tablet, powered by Securus Technologies.
Moberly's phones process collect, debit, and prepaid calls. Collect calls charge the person receiving the call. Debit calls draw from funds or minutes available to the incarcerated person. Prepaid calls are covered by money you've set aside in advance through an account.
- Decide which Securus option you want to use - AdvanceConnect is a prepaid calling account you fund in advance; Securus Debit deposits add funds your loved one can use for Securus services at their facility.
- Set up your account - Create your prepaid setup through Securus (online options are available through securustech.net).
- Add funds - Deposit the amount you’re comfortable with based on how often you expect calls.
- Get help if anything doesn’t look right - For account or deposit support, contact Securus directly by phone or email.
