What to Expect at Security Screening and the Body Scanner at Moberly

Expect to be screened when you enter Moberly Correctional Center. All visitors are subject to search, and metal detectors are standard. Missouri DOC uses several screening tools together at adult institutions: the Intercept full-body scanner, walk-through metal detectors, hand-held metal detectors, and X-ray baggage scanners. Everything gets checked before you're allowed into the visitation area.

Note: Missouri DOC uses the Intercept full-body scanner at adult institutions, alongside metal detectors and X-ray baggage screening.

At Moberly, the rule is straightforward: anyone 18 or older goes through the full-body scanner. Exceptions exist but are limited. Missouri DOC approves them for things like a verified medical condition or pregnancy. If you think you qualify, bring documentation - don't expect same-day, informal approval.

Reminder: Exceptions for medical conditions or pregnancy require approval - bring verification.

  1. Gather verification for your exception - If your exception is based on a verified medical condition or pregnancy, have your documentation ready so your request is clear and complete.
  2. Submit your request to the facility warden or superintendent - Non-staff visitors (including offenders’ visitors) may submit a request for an exception to the full-body scanner to the warden or superintendent of the facility.
  3. Direct your request to Moberly’s warden - For Moberly Correctional Center, submit scanner-exception requests to Warden Amanda Blissett.

  • Remove metal items before you go through screening, since metal detectors are used.
  • If you need life-sustaining medication or equipment during the visit (for example: nitroglycerin, insulin and insulin supplies, oxygen, or asthma inhalers), bring it in the original container.
  • Bring only the necessary dosage for the visiting period - don’t bring extra.
  • Notify the case manager in advance so staff are aware of your needs.
  • Tell staff when you arrive if you’ll need to use medication during visitation.

Tip: If you need life-sustaining medication during a visit, keep it in the original container and notify the case manager ahead of time - then tell staff again when you arrive.
