How to Request a Special or Contact Visit — Including ICE and Professional Visits at Morrow County Jail
Special and contact visits at Morrow County Jail aren't automatic. They require approval and paperwork, and ICE contact visits have an extra approval step with a strict lead time.
Every special visit at Morrow County Jail, including contact visits, has to be approved by the Sheriff or the Jail Administrator. Each request gets documented on a Special Visit Request form whether it's approved or denied. Be ready to provide whatever information the jail asks for to support your request.
- ✓ Register online in the facility’s visitor registry before you try to visit
- ✓ Bring valid, verifiable photo ID for check-in (for example: a government photo ID, passport, or military ID)
Requesting a special visit is a formal process. The Sheriff or Jail Administrator must approve it, and everything gets documented on a Special Visit Request form. If you're not sure how to get the form or how the jail wants it submitted, call the facility directly. That saves you from going back and forth and losing time.
- Register in the online visitor registry - Do this before you try to schedule or show up for a visit.
- Confirm you have valid photo ID - Bring verifiable photo identification to check-in (such as a government photo ID, passport, or military ID).
If the person you're visiting is an ICE detainee and you're requesting a contact visit through the Special Visit Request form, expect a stricter approval process. These visits need sign-off from both the Sheriff or Jail Administrator and the ICE Field Office.
- Count back three business days - ICE contact visit requests must be made at least three (3) business days before the day you want to visit.
- Submit your request early - The extra approval step can slow things down, so waiting until the last minute can cost you the visit.
Heads up: ICE contact visits require extra approval and at least three business days of lead time. Make sure you're registered online and have valid photo ID ready so your request doesn't stall at check-in.
Professional visits (attorneys, counselors, etc.) are handled separately from standard social visits. At Morrow County Jail, these take place in the Attorney/Counseling room near the Visitation area.
The Attorney/Counseling room is set up for secure, workable communication. Lighting is at a minimum of 20 foot-candles, there's a surveillance camera (video only, no sound), and an intercom is available to contact the Control Room if needed.
Good to know: Attorney visits get priority unless there's an active security issue in the facility. If something does come up, your visit will happen (or continue) once the situation is under control.
- Register online first - All visitors must be in the facility’s online visitor registry before visiting.
- Ask for the Special Visit Request form process - Special visits and contact visits have to be approved and documented on a Special Visit Request form.
- Build in the right lead time - ICE contact visit requests must be made at least three (3) business days in advance because ICE approval is required.
- Bring valid photo ID to check-in - Use a verifiable photo ID (such as a government photo ID, passport, or military ID).
Quick tip: The two most common reasons visits fall through are timing and paperwork. Register online, bring valid photo ID, and for ICE contact visits, don't wait until the last couple of days to submit your request.
