What Your Lawyer Needs to Know: Attorney & Professional Visit Procedures at Morrow County

"Professional visitors" at Morrow County includes attorneys, bondsmen, doctors, and clergy. These visits can happen at any reasonable hour - day or evening - once you present proper credentials and ID to the Shift Supervisor/O.I.C. Planning a legal visit? Build that credential check into your arrival time so you're not scrambling at the door.

Tip: Bring credentials and a valid ID and be ready to present them directly to the Shift Supervisor/O.I.C. at check-in to keep the visit moving.

You'll be searched before entering the security perimeter. Professional visitors and their personal property are both subject to search - including paperwork. Documents coming in get inspected as a contraband-control measure. Don't assume legal paperwork gets waved through; plan for staff to look through what you carry in.

Refusal = no visit: If you refuse a search of yourself or your property, the visit will be denied.

  • Bring only the papers you actually need for the meeting
  • Assume any papers you bring in will be searched before they’re allowed past the security perimeter
  • Keep documents organized so an inspection doesn’t turn into a long delay

Professional visits take place in the Attorney/Counseling room, located near the Visitation area. That's where you'll be directed for attorney-client or other professional meetings.

The room is set up with security and communication in mind: minimum lighting of 20 foot-candles, a surveillance camera (no audio), and an intercom to contact the Control Room if needed. The room is visually monitored for safety, and staff can respond quickly if something comes up during your visit.

Privacy & security: The room uses camera surveillance without audio, and there’s an intercom available to reach the Control Room if required.

Professional visits - including attorney visits - are accommodated at reasonable hours. The key to getting in without friction: arrive ready to show proper credentials and ID to the Shift Supervisor/O.I.C. Treat that credential check as the first step, not an afterthought.

After the meeting, the person you visited will be searched before returning to housing - either a pat search or strip search, per facility policy. Papers are also inspected to prevent contraband from entering the jail. If you're exchanging documents, know that anything going back with the inmate is subject to review.

  1. Bring credentials and ID - You’ll need to present proper credentials and identification to the Shift Supervisor/O.I.C. before the visit can proceed.
  2. Plan for searches at the door - You and your personal property are subject to search before entering the security perimeter.
  3. Keep paperwork tight and organized - All papers brought in during visits will be searched, so bring only what you need and make it easy to inspect.
  4. Prepare your client for what happens after - Inmates are searched (pat or strip) after the visit and before they return to the housing area.
