What You Can't Bring to a Morrow County Jail Visit — Searches, Phones, and Consequences

Before you reach the visitation area, you'll pass a posted warning in the lobby: anyone who attempts to bring contraband or weapons - or violates jail security - may be searched and prosecuted. Do a quick pocket check in your car. Walk in with as little as possible.

Screening can go beyond a quick look. With Shift Supervisor/O.I.C. approval, staff may conduct a pat search. Searches are gender-matched - male staff search male visitors, female staff search female visitors. If contraband or weapons turn up, your visit is over. Leave questionable items at home rather than risk it.

Prohibited Items

  • Cell phones (not permitted during visits)
  • Personal property (not accepted or handed out during visiting periods)
  • Money/cash (not taken or handed out during visiting periods)

You can't bring personal property inside, but you do need to prove who you are. Bring valid photo identification. You'll also need to register online before arriving - the jail keeps a computerized log of visits, so make sure your registration is complete ahead of time.

Most visits limit what can pass between people. Non-contact visits happen in the public lobby visitation area, and online (video) visitation is also available. All visits are monitored and may be recorded. The jail's general schedule gives inmates at least thirty minutes of visitation per week; video visits run no less than twenty minutes each. Bringing a child? Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A legally married spouse under 18 can visit with legal proof of marriage.

Consequences: If contraband or weapons are found on you, your visit is denied. The lobby warning spells it out - attempting to bring prohibited items may lead to a search and prosecution.
