Where to Mail Letters & What You Can Send to an Inmate at Multi County Jail (MCCC)
MCCC uses SmartJailMail, so most personal mail goes to a Smart Communications address where it's scanned and delivered digitally. Use the checklists below to address your mail correctly and avoid having items rejected or returned.
Multi County Jail (MCCC) routes incoming inmate mail through Smart Communications' SmartJailMail system. Here's how it works: you mail your letter or card to Smart Communications, they scan it, and then upload it so the inmate can view it digitally. Want faster back-and-forth? SmartInmate (also by Smart Communications) allows near-real-time communication, and signing up is free. It's different from traditional paper mail, but the process is straightforward once you get the hang of it.
Note: Personal mail needs to go to Smart Communications (not directly to the jail) so it can be scanned and uploaded into SmartJailMail.
For personal letters and cards, you'll send mail to Smart Communications - not directly to the jail - so it can be scanned and uploaded into SmartJailMail. Here's the catch: two different Smart Communications addresses appear in MCCC's published materials. One version lists: Smart Communications – Multi-County Correctional Center, inmate name and ID number, PO Box 9124, Seminole, FL 33775-9124. Another version lists: Smart Communications – Multi-County Correctional Center, inmate name and ID number, 605 North High Street #303, Columbus, Ohio 43215. Because both addresses show up in official-looking materials, verify the correct mailing address before sending anything - especially if it's time-sensitive.
Verify before you mail: MCCC materials show two different Smart Communications addresses. Sending to the wrong one can delay delivery or prevent your mail from reaching your person at all.
MCCC doesn't accept paper mail at the facility itself - only legal mail goes directly there. Legal mail means correspondence from courts, government agencies, or attorneys.
Write the inmate's full name and inmate ID number clearly on the outside of the envelope or postcard. MCCC uses this information to route the scanned mail to the correct person's account. No name and ID on the outside? The mail gets returned. Before sealing the envelope, double-check that ID number - one wrong digit means the difference between delivery and a return trip to your mailbox.
Reminder: Even though your mail is processed through Smart Communications/SmartJailMail, the envelope still needs the inmate’s full name and ID number or it can be returned.

Got mail returned? Check the envelope first - at MCCC, anything missing the inmate's name and ID number gets sent back. The next most common issue is the address itself. Since MCCC materials list more than one Smart Communications address, confirm you used the right one before resending. If you're unsure which address to use or don't have the correct inmate ID number, pause and verify those details. That single step prevents most delays and returns.
