You can send letters in envelopes or use pre-metered postcards, such as those purchased from the post office. Blue or black ink is recommended. Staff open personal mail and inspect it for contraband, removing any contraband before delivering the mail to the recipient.

For books, order from a reputable source and have the order shipped directly to the jail at the same recipient address. Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Books-A-Million are examples of acceptable sources, not the only options.

Hardcover books are not accepted because they could be used as weapons.

Books must not contain excessively violent, pornographic, or obscene images or content. Books that fail the jail’s standards are disposed of.
