How to Schedule a Visit at Taylor County Detention Center (TCDC)

Taylor County Detention Center (TCDC) does not allow walk-in visits. Every visit must be scheduled as an appointment ahead of time, so plan on booking before you show up.

Each visit lasts 30 minutes, and each inmate is limited to one visit per week. That means you'll need to pick the single slot you want to use for that week.

Visitation happens two days a week: Thursday and Saturday. When you call to schedule, you'll choose one of those days for the inmate's weekly visit.

Visits last 30 minutes. Since time is limited, it helps to jot down a few things you want to talk about so you can make the most of it.

1. Pick your day (Thursday or Saturday) - The inmate can only have one visit per week, so choose the day you want before you call.
2. Call to schedule - Make the appointment by calling 270-789-1909.
3. Confirm you are booked for that week - Appointments are made for the current week only, so make sure the date you select fits the week you are calling about.

You can call to schedule during these hours: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 3:15 PM. On Friday, the window is shorter: 9:00 AM to Noon.

TCDC opens up visitation appointments each Monday, and they only schedule for that current week. If you wait until later in the week to call, fewer slots may be left.

Since inmates are limited to one visit per week, you can't book both a Thursday and a Saturday visit in the same week. If a weekday works better for your schedule, aim for Thursday. If you need a weekend option, go with Saturday and try to book early.

TCDC can deny visitation to anyone who doesn't follow the rules. If your visit gets denied, the quickest way to avoid a repeat issue is to review all visitation requirements before trying again.
