How to Register for VINE Alerts for Taylor County Detention Center
VINE lets you stay informed about custody changes at Taylor County Detention Center without calling the jail over and over. Here's how registration works and what to expect once your alerts are active.
VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) is a free, anonymous phone service that tracks offender custody status and sends you alerts when something changes. For Taylor County Detention Center, VINE pulls updates from the jail's booking system every 15 minutes. That frequent refresh is what makes near-real-time alerts possible.
There are two ways to register for VINE notifications. By phone, call 1-800-511-1670 from a touch-tone phone and follow the prompts. If you'd rather register online, head to www.vinelink.com.
- ✓ A telephone number (including area code) where you can be reached for notifications
- ✓ A 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) that you create during registration
Once you're registered, VINE sends notification calls when specific custody events occur at Taylor County Detention Center: release from custody, escape, return to custody after an escape, transfer to another facility, and advance notification of release.
When an event triggers an alert, VINE follows a set calling pattern. It calls every 30 minutes for 24 hours, or until you enter your correct PIN to confirm you received the notification. Confirming stops the calls.
If you answer but don't confirm, VINE switches to calling every 2 hours for 24 hours. Messages can be left on an answering machine, but the calls keep coming on that schedule regardless. To stop them, enter your 4-digit PIN when prompted.
Heads up: VINE notification calls may show up as "unknown" on caller ID. If you block unknown numbers, those alerts won't get through.
