How to arrange your first visit to Whiteville Correctional Facility
Here’s how to apply, receive your decision and book your first visit to Whiteville Correctional Facility. Under TDOC rules, every visitor needs application approval before visiting, and approval is separate from the required appointment.
TDOC requires every visitor, including children of any age, to have an approved visitor application on file. Submit your completed application to the institution where the person you want to visit is assigned.
- Open the TDOC visitation application and the appropriate adult or minor submission guide.
- Complete the application.
- Submit the completed application to the incarcerated person’s assigned institution.
Under TDOC’s application process, applications should be approved or denied within 30 days of receipt. The incarcerated person receives the decision and is responsible for telling you whether you were approved or denied. You cannot be admitted for a visit until your application is approved.
TDOC visitation is by appointment only, and approved visitors must contact the institution where the incarcerated person is housed to book. TDOC lists Whiteville’s visitation contact hours as Saturday through Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. These are booking-contact hours, not visiting hours.
- Once you are approved, call Whiteville’s listed visitation contact at 731-254-9400, extension 40821, during booking-contact hours.
- Arrange your visit appointment with facility staff.
Under TDOC’s scheduling rules, wardens set visitation schedules that include Saturdays, Sundays and one evening each week for visitors unable to attend on weekends. CoreCivic also provides a Whiteville visitation and contact instructions download. Before you travel, confirm your appointment and local visit requirements with facility staff.
For your visit, go to Whiteville Correctional Facility at 1440 Union Springs Road, Whiteville, TN 38075. The facility’s directions link provides a route to this physical address.
TDOC limits what you may bring into the visitation area to the items below, with baby supplies permitted only as needed. All other belongings, including phones, smart watches and wallets, should stay in your secured vehicle.
- ✓ Your photo ID
- ✓ Car keys or a key fob
- ✓ Needed baby supplies in a clear plastic bag, such as diapers, formula powder and unopened sealed baby food
TDOC requires appropriate clothing and footwear for visitors of every age. Prohibited clothing includes spandex or similar fabric, transparent or translucent items, sleeveless tops, clothing exposing the chest or midriff, camouflage, worn or tattered clothing, bandanas and excessive jewelry. Flip-flops, steel- or composite-toed shoes and shower shoes are also prohibited. Wardens or superintendents may further define these requirements at each facility.
Under TDOC’s visitation rules, every visitor must pass through multiple security screenings, including a body scanner, and vehicles may routinely be searched. Smoking and vaping of any kind are not allowed on state property. Firearms, weapons, drugs and alcohol are strictly prohibited.
TDOC treats visitation as a privilege, and visits may be denied, terminated, suspended or revoked at any time. Review the full TDOC visitation policy for its rules and procedures, and direct questions about your visit or local requirements to Whiteville staff.
