How to Set Up Your First Video Visit at Daviess County Detention Center
Setting up your first visit at Daviess County Detention Center works differently than most jails—public visitation is video only. Once you understand the timing rules and weekly limits, scheduling through CorrectPay is straightforward.
Daviess County Detention Center doesn't offer in-person public visits. All public visits happen through video chat, scheduled through CorrectPay.com. Keep in mind that privacy is limited: video visits are monitored and recorded. The only exception is a preapproved confidential visit. If you need an unmonitored conversation, handle the preapproval process before you count on it.
Note: Video visits are monitored and recorded unless preapproved as confidential. Keep conversations appropriate and avoid sharing sensitive information.
If your loved one was just booked, you won't be able to schedule immediately. Video visits become available on CorrectPay.com about 16 hours after booking - so don't worry if you can't find them right away.
After that 16-hour window, video visits are available around the clock - except during facility head counts. Blackout periods run roughly 06:30–08:00, 14:30–16:00, and 22:30–00:00 (or about 7a–8a, 3p–4p, and 11p–12a). If you're trying to book or join a visit and something isn't working, check the time first. Head count is one of the most common reasons a visit won't go through.
Each inmate gets one free 15-minute video visit per week. Beyond that, they can have up to four additional paid 15-minute visits weekly. If you're coordinating with other family members, talk ahead of time about who's using the free visit and which days you'll use paid time. That way you won't accidentally burn the free slot on a call that could have waited.
Tip: Save the free 15-minute visit for the week's most important conversation. And if the booking is recent, remember visits won't appear until about 16 hours after intake.
Paid visits cost $5.70 per 15-minute block. The weekly cap is four paid 15-minute visits per inmate (in addition to the one free 15-minute visit).
- ✓ Start the session a few minutes early so you have time to fix audio/video issues before the 15 minutes are ticking.
- ✓ Use a steady connection (strong Wi‑Fi or a reliable wired connection) to reduce freezing or dropped calls.
- ✓ Close other apps/tabs that might be using your camera, microphone, or bandwidth.
- ✓ Make sure your device is charged (or plugged in) so you don’t lose the visit mid-call.
- ✓ If you’re paying for multiple visits in a week, plan them around head count times so you’re not paying for time you can’t use.
If a video visit/chat fails or you run into technical problems, you can report the issue through CorrectPay.com. You can also call CorrectPay support at 1-855-836-3364.
- Check the time - Visits aren’t available during head counts, so confirm you’re not trying to connect during a blackout window.
- Refresh and re-join - Close the visit window/app and try joining again.
- Restart your device - A quick reboot can fix camera/mic glitches.
- Switch to a stronger connection - Move closer to your router or change networks if the video is lagging or dropping.
- Contact CorrectPay - Report the problem through CorrectPay.com or call 1-855-836-3364 if you still can’t get connected.
During your visit, assume everything you say and do can be reviewed later. Daviess County Detention Center monitors and records all video visits unless they're preapproved as confidential. Keep the conversation clean, avoid discussing anything illegal, and stick to topics you'd be comfortable having overheard.
- ✓ Keep your face aimed at the camera during the visit.
- ✓ Keep the conversation and behavior appropriate; sexual acts are not permitted.
- ✓ Don’t discuss or show anything illegal, threatening, or unsafe - assume it can be reviewed.
- ✓ If you need privacy for a sensitive topic, only do that in a preapproved confidential visit.
