Sending money to someone at Pitchess: in person or by mail

To put money on someone’s books at Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center, you can deposit it in person at the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles or send an accepted check or money order by mail. Pitchess does not permit online deposits to an inmate’s books. These instructions are for account funding, not bail payments.

Do not take deposit money to Pitchess itself. The facility has no cashier and does not accept money directly.

For an in-person deposit, go to the Inmate Reception Center at 450 Bauchet Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012, rather than the Pitchess housing complex in Castaic. Deposits are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The reception center’s contact number is (213) 893-5875.

If you choose to mail a deposit, the payment must be one of the accepted instruments and made payable using the inmate’s name and booking number. Prepare and send it in this order.

  1. Choose a California bank-drawn cashier’s check, a U.S. Postal Service money order or a California state money order.
  2. Make the check or money order payable to the inmate’s name and booking number.
  3. Address the payment with the inmate’s complete name and seven-digit booking number, followed by Terminal Annex P.O. Box 86164, Los Angeles, CA 90086-0164. Mail it to that address.
